Reminder: Information session on proposed signalisation of Philip Kgosana Drive and Crassula Avenue intersection

The City of Cape Town is encouraging residents to please attend the information session tomorrow, 28 October 2025 at the Subcouncil 16 Council Chambers, where the City’s Urban Mobility team will be providing all necessary information regarding the proposal to undertake the signalisation of the intersection at Philip Kgosana Drive and Crassula Avenue in Vredehoek. All Comments and recommendations on this proposal are welcome, as the commenting period will run until 17 November 2025.
The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate has recommended the following interventions:
Signalise the Philip Kgosana Drive and Crassula Avenue intersection
“Unhook” the turning movements into and out of Crassula Avenue to remove the conflict point and provide an eastbound acceleration lane
•Allow vehicles entering and exiting Crassula Avenue to cross Philip Kgosana Drive easily and safely
Create additional storage space for the queues in the median to wait at the signal
Ease access onto Philip Kgosana Drive for right turning vehicles from Crassula Avenue
‘The interventions proposed by our Transport Network Development branch for the signalisation of the Philip Kgosana Drive and Crassula Avenue intersection aims to improve traffic flow and road safety in this vicinity. Our team has arranged a public information day at the end of the month to answer any questions residents may have. I encourage interested parties to please attend this session at the Subcouncil 16 Council Chambers on 28 October 2025 where they will have access to the subject experts from 15:00 -18:00, this is your opportunity to provide input and have your queries addressed,’ said the City’s mayoral Committee member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
